Nourishment For Our Souls

Dear Friends,
Cows have four distinct stomachs.  One of the stomachs actually predigests the food.  When the cow “chews her cud” she actually processes it again to get the greatest nutrition out of what she ate. God says much about “meditating” on His Word, the Bible…
  • Psalm 119:15 “I will meditate on Your precepts.”
  • Psalm 119:48 “I meditate on Your decrees.”
  • Psalm 1:2 “On His law he meditates day and night.”
  • Psalm 119:148 “That I may meditate on Your promises.”
  • Psalm 119:99 “For I meditate on Your statutes.”

In this fast-paced world, meditation is often neglected.  But meditation is similar to chewing and digesting one’s food, pondering it and turning it about so that we get the most “spiritual nutrition” out of it.  The process of meditation is taking one of those verses or passages, chewing on it, and digesting it in our minds. We think about it as we fall asleep and as we arise. We ponder it while we drive, take a walk, or do a chore. The Word of God is nourishment for our souls… Let’s “think about such things” (Philippians 4:8).
